Speech & Debate Team Organizes Donation
Copley High School hosted the annual Copley Invitational Speech and Debate tournament on November 19th. Competing in the event were 512 students representing 21 local high schools. This year organizer and head coach Shannon Rote coordinated a “Sock Donation Drive” as a component of the event. Each team was asked to collect and bring in new socks to be donated to the Haven of Rest in Akron. Wooster City’s team brought in the most of any team, donating 250 pairs of socks. After the event, Rote and team members Rakith Jaywardene, Jaren McKinnie and Ben Lipkin took the socks to Haven of Rest, who will distribute the donations to Akron area residents.
