Copley High School’s Yearbook, The Chieftain, received a first place award from the American Scholastic Press Association for the 2015-16 yearbook. This is the second year in a row that the yearbook has earned this recognition.The Ohio Scholastic Media Association also recognized the yearbook and its staff with a second place award. The 2015-16 staff included: Editors: Deniz Tektas and Claire Stone. Staff Members: Katherine Comstock, Madison Cox, Kirsten Gill, Kelly Hovorka, Jordan Koellner, Courtnie Stetz, Gabriella Szczotka, and Madeline Wiley.
Several art students at CHS recently competed in the Scholastic Art Competition. The judges this year awarded Silver and Gold Keys to 473 of 4319 individual entries this year. Out of 117 entries, 90 CHS students earned awards. In all, students received 13 Gold Keys, 25 Silver Keys, and 52 Honorable Mentions. An awards ceremony is being held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the University Center, Kent Stark Campus for the Gold and Silver Key Recipients.
